PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (Feb. 05, 2010) - Calvert County government offices have closed as of 12 p.m. Friday, February 5 due to the onset of the winter storm. The following Calvert County services have been affected:

-- All Calvert County government offices are closed.

-- County bus service has stopped operations as of 12 p.m. Friday. There will be no bus service on Saturday, Feb. 6.

-- All county Parks and Recreation activities have been cancelled for the weekend. Community centers are closed as of 12 p.m. Friday.

-- County convenience centers and the landfill will be closed for the weekend beginning at 12 p.m. Friday.

-- Calvert County libraries are closed Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6. Libraries are normally closed on Sundays.

-- The Calvert Marine Museum has closed as of 12 p.m. Friday and will remain closed throughout the weekend. The museum's First Free Friday event scheduled for Friday, Feb. 5 has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 19.

The Calvert County Emergency Operations Center will be staffed throughout this weather event. Residents who have questions or need assistance can call 410-535-0396 or 410-535-0314.

In the event of prolonged power outages, the county will set up warming centers or shelters. Schedules and locations for these centers will be released if and when necessary.
