Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (May 24, 2010) - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: During the week of May 17 through May 23, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office responded to 1,952 calls for service throughout the community. Additionally, deputies arrested 8 people and charged them with DWI/DUI during the week.

DOP: Unknown suspect(s) spray painted the wooden planks of the boardwalk in the 7300 block of Bayside Road in Chesapeake Beach. The damage occurred sometime between May 14 and 17 and is estimated at $100. Dep. A. Mitchell is investigating.

BURGLARY: Unknown suspect(s) burglarized a shed behind a home on Jewell Road in Dunkirk sometime on May 17 between 4:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. No damage was done and nothing appears to have been taken. Dep. J. Denton is investigating.

TRESPASSING: Police arrested Johnna Leslie Rice, 52 of Huntingtown, on May 18 at 12:30 p.m. after she refused to leave the Holiday Inn Express in Prince Frederick. Rice checked out of the hotel but refused to leave her room. The manager attempted to contact her to see if she wanted to continue her stay at the hotel but Rice refused to make any arrangements. Dep. M. Economes made contact with Rice in the hotel room and found her to be extremely intoxicated. She was advised to leave the hotel but she became belligerent, using profanity and refusing to leave. She was arrested and charged with trespassing and resisting arrest.

CDS VIOLATION: On May 18 at 3:43 p.m. while conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on Clubhouse Drive at Rousby Hall Road in Lusby, Dep. J. Norton made contact with the driver, Michael Todd Bailey, 45 of Lusby, and detected the odor of burning marijuana. Bailey was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a green plastic baggy.

THEFT: On May 19 at about 10:45 a.m. an unknown white male suspect in a bright yellow Chevrolet Monte Carlo pumped $35 worth of gas at the Prince Frederick Shell station then got into his vehicle and drove away without paying. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. R. Brady at 410-535-2800.

THEFT: Two 12 foot kayaks were stolen from the backyard of a home on Erie Ave in North Beach sometime in late April or early May of this year. The kayak, one a dark green Dagger and the other a beige Perception, are valued at $1000. A double sided paddle worth $300 was also taken. Anyone with information is asked to contact Dep. R. Brady at 410-535-2800.

THEFT, DOP: Someone broke the driver's side rear window on a vehicle parked outside a home on Dana Drive in Prince Frederick overnight between May 19 and 20. The culprit(s) caused $800 in damage and stole a backpack and a pair of jeans. Dep. Brady is investigating.

BURGLARY: DFC R. Weems is investigating a burglary to a shed behind a home on Field Road in Lusby between May 19 and 20. Unknown suspect(s) stole a black Craftsman chainsaw worth $200.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY: Someone attempted to gain entry to a home on Durango Drive in Lusby on May 20 around noon. The homeowner was in the house when the alarm system went off. They discovered a door to the home cracked open about a half inch but no one was around. Dep. J. Lord is investigating.

BURGLARY: An orange KTM 250 SX-F dirt bike worth $6100 was stolen from the garage of a home on Whispering Drive in Prince Frederick between May 16 and 21. Anyone with information is asked to contact DFC J. Bell at 410-535-2800.

BURGLARY: A home on Hobbes Court in Lusby was burglarized sometime between May 8 and 22 and a white General Electric washing machine and a white General Electric dryer, together valued at $1800, were taken. Dep. J. Norton is investigating.

THEFT, CDS VIOLATION: On May 22 at 11:02 a.m. after conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle on Clubhouse Drive at Rousby Hall Road in Lusby, Dep. J. Norton discovered the tag registration sticker had been stolen from another vehicle. Also, the driver of the vehicle was in possession of suspected marijuana. Norton arrested Nichole D. Hobar, 29 of Lusby, and charged her with theft under $100, possession of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a clear baggie.

BURGLARY: A home on Brookside Drive in Chesapeake Beach was burglarized on May 22 between 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. A television, DVD player and weight bench, together valued at $515 were stolen. Dep. J. Parsons is continuing the investigation.
