Local Firms Help Feed Hungry via Charity Golf Tourny

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. (June 18, 2010) – Naval Systems, Inc. (NSI), headquartered in Lexington Park, in conjunction with STAR 98.3's “T-Bone & Heather,” out of Mechanicsville, raised over $7,700 for the Southern Maryland Food Bank through their 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament on June 10th at the Wicomico Shores Golf Course in St. Mary's County. Twenty-two golf teams participated in the charity tournament, followed by a prize award ceremony and a fund-raising auction.
“A great time was had by all!” commented Diana Waldorf, NSI event organizer.
The funds will be used by the food bank to purchase over 60,000 pounds of food which will be used to assist more than 3,000 local families in need.
To date, NSI and STAR 98.3 have raised over $15,000 to support the Southern Maryland Food Bank, said Waldorf.
