LA PLATA, Md. (Aug. 5, 2010)—The Nanjemoy Community Center is operating under restricted use pending a satisfactory structural engineering inspection of the facility’s flooring system. Government officials say a comprehensive facility inspection was recently conducted, and it was determined by an independent structural engineer that the facility’s flooring system required further in-depth inspections regarding safety.
Charles County Government has been partnering with the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department to host large events such as National Night Out and the upcoming Annual Nanjemoy Heritage Day while the evaluation of the floor structure continues.
The Charles County Board of Elections will be relocating their polling place from the Nanjemoy Community Center to the Nanjemoy Volunteer Fire Department for the upcoming primary and general elections, and will notify affected voters.
The Community Center continues to be open in order to provide services to the community during scheduled hours.
