LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 31, 2010) -- Police have arrested three Drayden teens in connection with an early morning armed robbery of a Lexington Park residence. The three are also suspected of a strong-arm snatch of a woman's purse, as her daughter stood nearby, the day before.
The suspects in the armed robbery were identified as Michael Page Barnes, 19, Pierre Rasheed Chase, 18, and Timothy Patrick Hogan, 18. All three were arrested and charged with armed robbery, first degree burglary, and first degree assault. They were incarcerated in the detention center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
Police say they were called to the residence at 5:24 a.m. this morning. Police determined that three suspects forced open a rear door and made entry into the residence armed with a rifle. Once inside, the suspects stole property belonging to the residents. The three suspects then fled the scene in a Jeep Grand Cherokee displaying the new style Maryland license plate.
The investigation led officers to a residence on Cherryfield Road in Drayden where they located the suspects' Grand Cherokee. A perimeter around the residence was secured by patrol personnel at which time two suspects exited the residence and were taken into custody without incident. Shortly thereafter, the remaining residents exited the residence and were also taken into custody.
Further investigation by detectives from the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations led police to believe that the three suspects were also involved in a strong-arm robbery the day before. On Monday at approximately 3:00 p.m., a female victim and her daughter were approached by two subjects on Rutherford Drive in Great Mills. The suspects used force to steal the woman's purse and then fled in a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a third suspect. The teens and the vehicle involved in the Rutherford Drive robbery matched the description of the suspects and the vehicle used in the armed robbery in Lexington Park, according to police.
BCI detectives are continuing the investigations and further charges are pending a review of the cases with the States Attorney's Office.
