Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Sept. 15, 2010) - The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

VANDALISM/RRE: On September 14, an unknown suspect scratched a racial epithet on the victim's car which was parked on the street in the 3100 block of Sedgewick Road in Waldorf. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Anyone with information is asked to call (301) 932-2222. Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward for the tip that leads to the arrest of a suspect. Officer M. Rodriguez is investigating.

OFFICERS RECOVER STOLEN TRAILER: On September 10 at 2:30 p.m., officers responded to Pierce Road and Western Parkway in Waldorf after receiving information about a trailer that appeared to be abandoned. Upon further investigation, officers found a large amount of copper and various other precious metals inside the 48 foot trailer. Witnesses reported seeing a large, dark-colored Ford truck near the trailer. Detectives located the owner of the trailer and learned it had been stolen from his business in Anne Arundel County. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Detective D. Gross at 301-932-2222.

ROBBERY: On September 12 at 12:12 a.m., three teens were walking on a path near the 1100 block of Copley Avenue in Waldorf when they were approached by unknown suspects who implied they had a weapon and demanded money and cell phones. The victims complied and the suspects fled. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Officer R. Forbes is investigating.

ROBBERY: On September 10 at 12:27 p.m., officers responded to the area of Hamilton Road and Western Parkway for the report of a robbery. A preliminary investigation revealed the victim had just cashed a paycheck and was driving on Western Parkway when he observed a woman standing near a red Dodge Neon waving her arms toward the victim. The victim stopped and got out of his car to assist when he was approached by two males armed with a gun. The suspects demanded the victim's money and his cell phone. The victim complied and the suspects fled in the car. There have been no other similar reports of this activity.

WARRANT SWEEP: On September 9, officers assigned to the Charles County Sheriff's Office Child Support Enforcement Unit, along with members of the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office Child Support Unit, conducted a warrant sweep in various locations throughout Prince George's County. Officers attempted to serve 38 warrants. Nine warrants were served and six people were taken into custody.
