St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 16, 2010) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

FIRST AND SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On September 15 at approximately 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to a residence on Maypole Road in Leonardtown for a report of an assault involving a firearm. Upon arrival deputies were met by the victim who reported he was involved in a verbal dispute with Patrick Wayne Wood, 43 of Leondardtown, which escalated into a physical assault when Wood pointed a long gun at him. The victim stated he feared for his life and ran out of the residence. The victim further stated Wood was still inside the residence with the gun. Deputies set up a perimeter around the residence and called Wood on his cell phone. After approximately ten minutes Wood exited the residence without further incident. Wood was arrested and charged with first and second degree assault.

FIRST AND SECOND DEGREE ASSAULT: On September 16 at approximately 12:20 a.m., deputies responded to Chapman Drive in Lexington Park for a report of an assault. Upon arrival they were met by the victim who report he was in a verbal dispute with Joseph Allen Milburn III, 22 of no fixed address, which escalated into a physical assault when Milburn choked him and then used a knife to cut his ear. Milburn fled in a white, older model Ford Maverick. The victim was bleeding from the ear and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for medical treatment. A short time later, deputies located Milburn operating the suspect vehicle on Great Mills Road. Deputies stopped the vehicle; arrested Milburn and charged him with first and second degree assault.
