LEONARDTOWN, Md. (May 14, 2011) — The fourth season of live music returns to downtown Leonardtown this summer when the Downtown Tunes series opens on the square on Saturday, May 28. Regional favorite Country Memories will provide a traditional country music program.

This year, the series will feature evenings devoted to acoustic music, southern rock, and rock-and-roll. All concerts are on the fourth Saturday of the month and all always free. Shows begin at 6 p.m. and will run about two hours, except for the rock and roll concert in August, which will last about three hours. Rain dates will be the next day, Sunday, for all shows.

June 25 will feature an acoustic music show with The Edds, a duo of singers and guitarists.

On July 23, Dance Hall Ghost, led by local favorite Gary Rue, will play southern rock, country, and boogie-woogie tunes.

The series winds up on August 27 with rock-and-roll by Geezer and The 25th Hour Band.

Concert-goers may want to bring chairs or blankets to sit on. Downtown restaurants will be open before and during the shows.

The series is organized and hosted by the Leonardtown Business Association.

Leonardtown, the only incorporated town in St. Mary's County, has been working for several years to make the downtown and wharf area a social and entertainment destination.
