Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (May 18, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

DEATH INVESTIGATION: On May 17 at about 2:23 a.m., officers responded to the railroad tracks near Industrial Park Drive in Waldorf for the report of a person struck by a train. A preliminary investigation showed the victim was sitting on the train tracks when he was struck. The operator of the CSX train stopped but the man was deceased. His body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The decedent has been identified as Jose Ramirez-Lopez, 43, of Waldorf. It is not known why he was on the train tracks but witnesses indicated he had been consuming alcohol prior to being struck. Anyone with additional information should contact Detective G. BURGLARY: On May 15 at 1:34 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Pin Oak Drive in Waldorf for a burglary. Investigation showed the suspects kicked in the front door and stole a TV and other electronics. Officer Morgan is investigating.

WARRANT SWEEP: On May 15, officers assigned to the Warrant Unit and Patrol Operations Division conducted a warrant sweep. A total of nine people were located and arrested on outstanding warrants:

-- Iesha Janaye Smith, 20, of Waldorf, charged with second-degree assault

-- Patricia Cecilia Wright, 41, of Waldorf, charged with civil contempt

-- Coby Elliot Stewart, Jr., 20, of Waldorf, charged with burglary

-- Glenn Edward Mercer, 58, of Waldorf, charged with violation of probation for DWI

-- Demarco Anthony Monroe, 20, of Waldorf, charged with failure to appear on a drug charge

-- Anthony Fitzroy McKenzie, 36, of Waldorf, charged with civil contempt

-- Rebecca Leigh Oliver, 27, of Waldorf, charged with civil contempt

-- Derrek Lamont Wattz, 43, of Waldorf, charged with failure to appear driving while suspended

-- Taurean Antwan Cole, 24, of La Plata, charged with failure to appear on a theft charge

STRONG-ARM ROBBERY: On May 14 at 7:25 p.m., officers responded to the area of Bluebird Drive and Drake Court in Waldorf for the report of a citizen robbery. The victims, 15 and 14, were approached by a group of teens who struck them and stole their money, shoes and sweatshirt. The suspects fled and the victims called police. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating. Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Miner at (301) 609-6481.

ROBBERY: On May 13 at 7:30 p.m., a masked male entered Cricket Wireless at 11750 Business Park Drive. He displayed a gun and demanded money. The employee complied and the suspect fled.
