LA PLATA, Md. (July 7, 2011)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

SHERIFF'S OFFICER SAFELY REMOVES FAMILY FROM HOUSE FIRE: On July 5 at 3:23 a.m., Corporal William Jackson of the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to a townhouse fire in the 11800 block of Oak Manor Drive in Waldorf. The caller - an occupant of the house - said he saw smoke and flames coming from the kitchen area and indicated he was trapped in his bedroom. Cpl. Jackson arrived within minutes and tried to enter the house but the front door was locked. Cpl. Jackson kicked the door open and yelled for the occupants but no one answered. In heavy smoke, Jackson proceeded upstairs where he forced open several bedroom doors. He safely removed five occupants including three adults and two children - ages 13 and 17. Fire fighters responded and extinguished the fire which was mostly contained in the kitchen. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
