MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (August 12, 2011)—The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DRUG ARREST: On Saturday, August 6 at 3:26pm, Cpl. P. A. Trossbach conducted a traffic stop in the area of Asher Road and Mechanicsville Road on a Jeep for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator of the vehicle, Michael Joseph Brady, 19, of Mechanicsville, Cpl. Trossbach detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle and Mr. Brady was conducted. Mr. Brady was found in the possession of a knife that contained trace amounts of CDS. However, the search of the vehicle revealed negative results. Based on information provided by Mr. Brady and the item located on his person, Mr. Brady was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. Mr. Brady was issued a Criminal Citation and Court date and released from the scene.

FUGITIVE FROM JUSTICE: On Saturday, August 6 at 8:04pm, TFC N. E. Gresko initiated a traffic stop in the area of Maryland Route 235 and Town Creek Drive on a Jeep Grand Cherokee for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator, Christopher Steven Kiefner, 42, of Lusby, TFC Gresko detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath. Mr. Kiefner was required to perform Standardized Field Sobriety, which he was unable to successful complete. Subsequently, Mr. Kiefner was arrested for DUI. A NCIC query of Mr. Kiefner also revealed an outstanding warrant for another jurisdiction. Mr. Kiefner was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Mr. Kiefner was held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner. Fugitive paperwork was completed and Mr. Kiefner will be held pending relocation to the agency with the originating warrant.

DRUG ARREST: On Sunday, August 7 at 1:40pm, TFC G. A. Thompson conducted a traffic stop on a white passenger vehicle in the area of Maryland Route 5 and Old Village Road for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, TFC Thompson made contact with Thaddeus Leonardi Walker, II, 21, of Charlotte Hall, and detected the odor of burnt marijuana while speaking with him. Mr. Walker exited the vehicle to allow for a probable casue search to be conducted. The search of Mr. Walker and the vehicle revealed CDS on Mr. Walker's person. Mr. Walker was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS and CDS Paraphernalia. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE: On Monday, August 8 at 7:00pm, TFC E. J. Page responded to the 45000 block of Military Drive in Great Mills for a reported Domestic Assault. Upon arrival, TFC Page overheard loud arguing from the residence, he made contact with a female complainant, 40, of Great Mills who advised she was involved in an altercation with Paul Thomas Coup, 41, of Great Mills, regarding the behavior of a third party. Following the statement provided by the complainant, TFC Page made contact with Mr. Coup. Mr. Coup provided TFC Page with an account of the events that occurred. Following statements provided by the suspect and complainant, Mr. Coup was placed under arrest for Second Degree Assault. Mr. Coup was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged accordingly and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.

DRUG ARREST: On Monday, August 8 at 7:50pm, Cpl. P. A. Trossbach conducted a traffic stop on a Pontiac passenger vehicle in the area of Maryland Route 238 and Doctor Johnson Road for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the operator, Cpl. Trossbach detected the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The operator, William Robert Hidley, 44, of Mechanicsville, was asked to exit the vehicle for a probable cause search to be performed. While exiting the vehicle, Mr. Hidley dropped a glass CDS smoking device into the road. The item was retrieved and Mr. Hidley was placed under arrest for Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. A search incident to arrest revealed additional CDS paraphernalia, and a cane with a knife concealed. The knife was confiscated and Mr. Hidley was issued a Criminal Citation and Court date prior to being released on the scene.

WARRANT SERVICE: On Thursday, August 11 at 10:22am, Tpr. B. T. Wiesemann served a Bench Warrant (T3-15070) on Evans Travis Simmons, 21, of California. The warrant was issued on August 3 with an original charge of Driving On A Suspended License by the District Court of St. Mary's County. Mr. Simmons turned himself into the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was served and held pending a bond review with the District Court Commissioner.
