DEATH INVESTIGATION: On Jan. 2 at 1:30 p.m., officers responded to Rivers Edge Terrace in Indian Head for the report of a missing person. Quan Thanh Phan, 66, left his house earlier in the afternoon to take a walk but never returned home. Family members notified police a few hours later and officers immediately canvassed the area. A canine search team was also deployed to assist. On Jan. 3 at about 12:30 p.m., officers spotted Mr. Phan about 50 yards down a steep embankment - behind a townhouse a block away from where he lived; he was deceased. It is not immediately clear how Mr. Phan died but there were no obvious signs of foul play.
