Drug Arrests in St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (June 27, 2012)—The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division today released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division, and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Mary’s County.

Police say Anita Katherine Embrey, 24 of Great Mills (top left) and Leanna Iesha Nelson, 39 of No Fixed Address (top right); and Nicole Ann Kelly, 26 of Leonardtown (bottom left) received drugs in jail from Amber Elizabeth Clark, 25 of Hughesville, (bottom right) when she returned to jail on weekends to serve her time. CONSPIRACY TO POSSESS CONTRABAND IN JAIL: Vice Narcotics detectives began an investigation in conjunction with the St. Mary's County Detention Center staff on prescription medication being introduced into the facility. Suspect Amber Elizabeth Clark, 25 of Hughesville, was identified as the target of the investigation through her weekend commitment to the correctional facility. As the investigation continued, it was determined that suspect Clark was delivering the items to several other inmates in return for her weekend fees being paid. Suspects Anita Katherine Embrey, 24 of Great Mills; Leanna Iesha Nelson, 39 of No Fixed Address; and Nicole Ann Kelly, 26 of Leonardtown; both pictured above, were all charged with Conspiracy to Possess Contraband In A Secure Facility. Additional charges and arrests are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.

Arrest photo.ALTERED PRESCRIPTION: Marsha Charlene Wilkerson, 35 of Brandywine, was arrested after it was discovered that she had passed an altered prescription for a controlled substance. Suspect Wilkerson traveled from Brandywine to visit a "free clinic" in St. Mary's County. After she was seen by a physician, she responded to a participating pharmacy and uttered an altered prescription. A search incident to her arrest revealed a set of brass knuckles.

Arrest photo.OXYCODONE SALES: Steven Michael Otto, 27 of Lusby, was indicted by Vice Narcotics detectives for Possession of Oxycodone with the Intent to Distribute and Conspiracy to Distribute Oxycodone. Detectives apprehended Suspect Otto in the act of selling more than $2,500 worth of Oxycodone to another suspect. He was originally held without bond.

COCAINE SALES: James Alfred Illenburger, 45 of Lusby, was indicted for Possession of Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute as a result of a search warrant that was executed by Vice Narcotics detectives.
