Another Pedestrian Killed in Charles Co.


LA PLATA, Md. (July 1, 2012)—Another pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early this morning in Charles County. Maryland State Police report that Charles Lester S. Matthews, 33, of Upper Marlboro, was illegally walking in the roadway when he was struck and killed by a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country minivan driven by Brandice Lysette Cheyenne Day, 21, of Faulkner. Day had four teenaged passengers and a twenty-year-old riding in her vehicle at the time of the accident. No one in the vehicle received injuries.

The accident occurred around 1:32 a.m. Sunday on northbound Route 301 near Balsam Run.

Matthews was pronounced deceased on the scene. His body was transported to the Medical Examiners Office in Baltimore.

The accident was investigated by TFC J. Edelen of the La Plata Barrack.

Just 2 weeks ago, on June 18, a Waldorf woman was killed as she tried to cross Route 224.
