Charles County Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (August 18, 2012)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

SECOND-DEGREE ASSAULT: On Aug. 13 at 9 p.m., officers responded to the area of Lancaster Circle and Becard Court in Waldorf for the report of an assault. The victim reported he was approached by a group of males who asked for a dollar. When the victim refused, one of the men struck him several times. The suspects fled and the victim called police. Officer M. Armstrong is investigating.

ROBBERY: On Aug. 12 at 11:14 p.m., officers responded to the area of St. Charles Parkway near Dartmouth Road in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. The victims - an adult and two teens - were walking in the area when they were approached by two groups of people. Someone in the group demanded money from the victims and when they said they did not have any money, the suspects assaulted them and stole a pair of tennis shoes one of the victims was wearing. Two of the victims were treated at a hospital for injuries they sustained during the assault. Officers canvassed the area and detectives are working on leads. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating.

OFFICERS LOCATE MAN WANTED FOR ASSAULT: On Aug. 10 at 11:54 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a man who said he had been assaulted inside his house in the 1300 block of Wilson Road in Waldorf. Investigation showed the victim, 28, was watching a soccer game on TV when he and an acquaintance began arguing. The argument escalated to a fight and during the fight, the suspect pulled a knife and threatened the victim. Officers went to the house where they located the suspect. Luis Rivera Hernandez, 28, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. PFC. R. Herbert investigated.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY/ATTEMPT BURGLARY: On Aug. 10 at 8:45 a.m., officers responded to the 3000 block of Heathcote Road in Waldorf for the report of an alarm that activated. Officers arrived and discovered a front door had been partially kicked open. The homeowner responded and indicated it did not appear anything had been stolen. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. Cpl C. Campbell is investigating.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLES: Between Aug. 8 - Aug. 9, unknown suspects broke into several vans parked at a business in the 2200 block of Crain Highway in Waldorf. A laptop and other items were stolen. PFC J. Morales is investigating.
