LEONARDTOWN, Md. (September 9, 2012)—The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Narcotics Division released the following incident and arrest reports. The Division is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division, and Federal Drug Agents (HIDTA Group 34). The Division was established on September 1st, 2007 and is based in St. Mary’s County.

SMUGGLING DRUGS INTO JAIL: Jack Davis Morgan, 33, was indicted by Vice/Narcotics detectives for his role in smuggling prescription medication and synthetic marijuana into the St. Mary's County Detention Center. Sheriff's Office Vice/Narcotics Support Team members conducted the extradition of Suspect Morgan from Virginia to St. Mary's County. He was originally held without bail.

POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: As a result of a search and seizure warrant being executed on his home, Brandon Thomas Maples, 26, of Lexington Park, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana and related paraphernalia. Additional charges are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.

OVERDOSE CALL UNVEILS DRUG OP: An off-duty deputy responded to a 911 call in California for a reported drug overdose. Once on the scene, the deputy was trying to assist the unconscious female and observed a male on the scene trying to conceal items on his person. On-duty deputies responded as did rescue personnel. Deputies detained the male suspect, identified as Steffen Zachary Monger, 22. Vice/Narcotics detectives responded and a search and seizure warrant was executed. Heroin, scales, packaging material and "loaded" syringes were recovered. The female subject survived. Additional felony charges are pending a review with the State's Attorney.
