LA PLATA, Md. (December 26, 2012)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

DEATH INVESTIGATION: On Dec. 19 at 3:06 p.m., officers responded to the 4000 block of Green Spring Street in Waldorf for the report of an unattended death. When officers arrived, they spoke with the homeowner who indicated his house is currently being renovated and is vacant. He said he checks on the progress of the house everyday and when he drove up to the house yesterday, he observed an SUV in the front yard. As he investigated further, he found a woman lying underneath the SUV, pinned down by the front tire; she was pronounced dead on the scene. It is not immediately clear why the woman, Darcie Leilani Stanback-Kelton, 42, of Fort Washington, was at the residence. Investigators are also trying to determine how she got pinned underneath her vehicle. She was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. Det. G. Higgs of the Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the investigation.

DUI CHECKPOINT AND SATURATION PATROLS YIELD ARRESTS: As part of a continuous effort to prevent impaired driving, officers assigned to the CCSO Traffic Operations Unit conducted a DUI checkpoint on Friday, Dec. 21, between 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. at St. Charles Parkway at Gallery Place in Waldorf. In addition, patrol officers assisted by saturating the area with roving patrols focused on traffic enforcement. During the checkpoint, 322 cars were stopped. Of those, no one was found to be under the influence of alcohol; however, five people were charged in connection with drug-related offenses. During one traffic stop, officers found 14 baggies of suspected marijuana inside a car and arrested Michael Andrew Howard, 25, of Waldorf and Keith Darren Glover, 24, of Washington, D.C. In another stop, officers found suspected marijuana, unauthorized prescription pills, a machete and a butterfly knife inside the vehicle. Abram Joseph Harris, Jr., 19, of Waldorf and Stefan Conrad Gyuras, 20, of Waldorf, and a 17-year-old female of Waldorf were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by an underage person. Additionally, Harris was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon. A total of 12 citations, 12 warnings and 11 equipment repair orders were issued during the checkpoint.

OFFICERS ARREST ROBBERY SUSPECTS: On Dec. 21 at 4:10 p.m., officers responded to the 4700 block of Sheffield Court in Waldorf for the report of a robbery. The victim, an 18-year-old male, made arrangements, via social networking, to sell a pair of tennis shoes to an acquaintance. The buyer, Derrick Renaldo Pitts, 18, of La Plata, drove to the victim's house with two males to make the purchase. During the transaction - which was conducted inside Pitts' car - one of the males pulled out a firearm and demanded the victim's tennis shoes and money. The victim complied and the suspects fled. The victim called 911 to report the incident. A description of the suspect's car was broadcast and shortly thereafter, Cpl. C. Strafella observed the vehicle near Crain Highway and St. Patrick's Drive. A traffic stop was initiated and Pitts - who was alone at the time - was arrested and charged in connection with the robbery. Evidence relating to the robbery was found in his vehicle. As a result of Pitts' arrest, officers soon identified the gunman in the robbery as Antonio Malachi Bryant, 20, of La Plata. Bryant was located at 10:45 p.m. after a La Plata Town police officer stopped him for speeding on Charles Street. At the time of the traffic stop, officers noticed Bryant was wearing the victim's stolen tennis shoes. In addition, officers found the victim's money and a loaded handgun on Bryant. Bryant was arrested and charged with armed robbery and other traffic- related charges. The Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the investigation.

ATTEMPT THEFT FROM AUTO: Between Dec. 21 - Dec. 22, unknown suspect(s) removed all of the lug nuts from a car parked on Kings Wharf Place in Waldorf. It appeared the suspect(s) tried to steal the tires but fled for unknown reasons. PFC J. Foster is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 20 between 6 a.m. - 9 a.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 3700 block of Mt. Pleasant Road in Waldorf and stole game systems and cash. Officers canvassed the area and found a vacant house nearby had also been broken into. Officer P. Morgan is investigating.

OFFICERS LINK SUSPECT TO BURGLARY: On Dec. 13 at 3:16 p.m., officers stopped a suspicious male in front of a game store in Waldorf. A computer check revealed the subject, Marlon Obryan Williams, 20, of Waldorf, had four open warrants. A search of Williams' backpack revealed a game console, multiple electronic games and several pieces of jewelry. Officers immediately recognized the items as property that had been reported stolen a day earlier from a house in the 10000 block of Ashford Circle. Officers continued investigating and learned Williams' was possibly keeping stolen goods at a nearby vacant house. Officers responded to the house and found other property that had been previously reported as stolen including a firearm. Williams was charged with burglary and he was served the outstanding warrants. Cpl. F. Tona is continuing the investigation.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: On Dec. 19 between 6 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke the frame to a rear door of a garage in the 800 block of Stavors Road in Waldorf. Entry was not made inside the garage and at this point, nothing was reported stolen. Officer N. Garner is investigating.

OFFICERS LOCATE STOLEN PROPERTY: On Dec. 19 at 12:45 p.m., officers responded to the 6100 block of Bivens Place in La Plata after a man reported finding a power washer that belonged to him; the washer had been stolen from his house during a burglary. Officers R. Snyder and J. Campbell canvassed the rest of the area and discovered a blue scooter in the woods. A check of the scooter's serial number revealed the scooter had been reported stolen as well. The officers tracked down the owners of the scooter and returned the property to them. The investigation is on-going.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 18 between 7:05 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) broke into a house in the 11000 block of Commanders Lane in White Plains and stole a computer, jewelry and other valuables. Officers canvassed the area and located a few witnesses who reported seeing two juveniles riding their bikes earlier that day in the area where the burglary occurred. Officers processed the scene for evidence. PFC K. Syvertsen is investigating.

BURGLARY: On Dec. 18 between 11:15 a.m. - 1 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 6100 block of Starview Place in La Plata and stole two shotguns and a handgun. Officers canvassed the area and witnesses reported seeing a newer model red car and a green car riding slowly through the area between the times the burglary occurred. PFC K. BURGLARY: On Dec. 18 between 8 a.m. - 12:10 p.m., unknown suspects broke into a house in the 800 block of Kenyon Avenue in Waldorf and stole several items including the victim's son's bicycle. Officers canvassed the area and processed the scene for evidence. PFC D. Butler is investigating.
