LEONARDTOWN, Md. (February 28, 2013)—The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) released the following incident and arrest reports. BCI is an investigative team comprised of detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown.
WANTED: Lance Edward Crossley, age 34, 5'5", 165 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes.
WANTED PERSON: Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in locating Lance Edward Crossley, age 34, 5'5", 165 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes. Crossley failed to report to the St. Mary's County Detention Center, as directed by court order, on traffic related charges. Crossley is believed to be in the Waldorf area of Charles County.

SHOOTING: On February 9 at approximately 12:45 a.m., officers responded to the 24000 Block of Jenny Lynn Lane in Clements for a report of a shooting. During a party, a black male suspect displayed a handgun and began firing shots into a group of people. One shot struck a 23-year-old male in the side. The victim was treated and released from St. Mary's Hospital. BCI responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
ARRESTED: Eric D. Burgess, Jr., age 21.
Following an investigation into this incident, BCI detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Eric D. Burgess, Jr., age 21, of no fixed address, with Assault 1st Degree, Reckless Endangerment and Use of Handgun in Commission of a Felony. Burgess, Jr. also has an outstanding warrant for Theft over $1,000 but less than $10,000. Burgess, Jr. was located and arrested on Feb. 20.
SHOOTING: On February 11 at 1:22 a.m., police responded to the 45000 block of Coronado Dr. in Great Mills for the report of a subject being shot. Units arrived on the scene and discovered a 23-year-old male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 7 to Prince George's Hospital Shock Trauma Center where he was treated for his injuries. BCI was contacted and assumed the investigation.
ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER: Jeramey K. Bradshaw, age 24, of Landover, Md.
During the investigation detectives were able to determine a physical altercation had taken place between the male victim and two male subjects. While the victim was struggling with one subject a second subject, identified as Jeramey K. Bradshaw, age 24, of Landover, approached the victim, produced a handgun and shot the victim multiple times.
On February 15, Bradshaw was located by BCI detectives in Calvert County and taken into custody without incident. Bradshaw was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Assault 1st Degree and Use of a Handgun in Commission of a Felony. Bradshaw is currently being held on a one million dollars bond.
ROBBERY, MURDER: On February 7 at 9:25 p.m., police responded to a private residence in St. Inigoes for the report of a robbery and shooting. The victim, identified as Robert L. McDowney, age 37, of St. Inigoes, was pronounced deceased on the scene. BCI was contacted, responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.
ARRESTED FOR MURDER: Andre L. Bowman, age 31 of Laurel, Md.
ARRESTED FOR MURDER: Joseph W. Medley III, age 29, of Lexington Park, Md.
BCI detectives were able to identify several suspects in the murder of McDowney through various investigative techniques. On February 13, multiple search and seizure warrants were executed simultaneously in Lexington Park, Prince George's County, and Howard County. As a result, two suspects were taken into custody and subsequently charged. Andre L. Bowman, age 31 of Laurel, was charged with Felony Murder and Armed Robbery. Joseph W. Medley III, age 29, of Lexington Park, was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Felony Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery. Both were transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
WANTED FOR MURDER: James Kenneth Clay, Jr., age 35, of no fixed address.
An Arrest Warrant has also been issued charging James Kenneth Clay, Jr., age 35, of no fixed address with 1st Degree Murder and Armed Robbery in connection with this case. Clay, Jr. is an African/American Male, 6'-0" tall, weighing 240 lbs. He is known to frequent the Laurel and Baltimore area and should be considered armed and dangerous.
MURDER: On February 19 at 3:30 a.m., police responded to 22000 block of Douglas Ct. in Great Mills for the report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, police units encountered a man who was nude. The man advised he had been inside a residence visiting a woman when he was approached by a male subject and a struggle ensued. The male victim stated he had been assaulted by the male subject who had entered the residence. The male victim then fled the residence to a nearby residence and notified police. Police units checked the area of the residence where the struggle ensued and discovered a female, lying in the rear yard of the residence, suffering from injuries to her head; she was pronounced deceased on the scene. The female victim has been identified as Kimberly D. Carter, age 38, of Great Mills.
ARRESTED FOR MURDER: James Mitchell Carter, age 46, of Lexington Park.
An investigation by BCI detectives resulted in the arrest of James Mitchell Carter, age 46, of Lexington Park. Carter was charged with 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, 1st Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Assault and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
