Yewell Named Waldorf Urban Redevelopment Corridor Manager

LA PLATA, Md. (March 8, 2016)—Charles County Administrator Michael D. Mallinoff today announced the hiring of Taylor Yewell as the Waldorf Urban Redevelopment Corridor (WURC) manager. Yewell will begin his employment with Charles County Government on Monday, March 7.

As the WURC manager, Yewell will manage the county's redevelopment efforts in the Waldorf urban corridor, and work with local, state, and federal agencies to promote redevelopment and transit services for Charles County. Yewell will identify and develop resources for a civic center in the county.

"The WURC project continues to focus on transportation and redevelopment initiatives, and community improvements for our residents," said Mallinoff. "I look forward to Yewell's new leadership and direction in our county's future redevelopment efforts."

"We are excited about Mr. Yewell's extensive redevelopment experience joining our Economic Development team," said Department of Economic Development Director Darrell Brown. "I'm confident he has the skills and expertise to successfully lead the effort to revitalize the Waldorf urban corridor, and create a vibrant sense of place."

"The WURC represents a great opportunity to leverage the county's existing assets, and create a vibrant, sustainable town center. I look forward to being a part of the Department of Economic Development, and working with the county stakeholders to transform the WURC from vision to reality," Yewell said.

Yewell managed and consulted a broad range of public and private real estate and economic development projects throughout the United States. His efforts have yielded tangible results, including civic facilities and private sector development ranging from commercial to residential uses, often in challenging environments. His most recent endeavor includes the successful selection of the Hines and Urban Atlantic team as the master developer for redeveloping the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Prior to entering the realm of real estate and economic development consulting, Yewell was the manager of Economic Development at Washington Gas, a major public utility serving the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Yewell has a Master of Real Estate degree from Johns Hopkins University.
