Woman Dies in 2 Vehicle Accident in Calvert

The 2 people in the second vehicle were uninjured

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (July 28, 2016)—Police in Calvert Co. report that a 2 vehicle collision this morning on route 4 at West Mt. Harmony Road resulted in one death. The two people in the second vehicle were uninjured. Police have not released the name of the deceased.

At 10:35 am, troopers from the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack responded to Route 4 at West Mt. Harmony Road for a reported serious motor vehicle collision. Preliminary investigation revealed a 1992 Plymouth passenger vehicle was traveling on West Mt. Harmony Road, towards Rt. 4, when the vehicle failed to yield the right of way to a 2014 Ford pick-up truck that was traveling northbound on Rt. 4 at West Mt. Harmony Road.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Plymouth vehicle was trapped in her vehicle and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. The driver of the pick-up truck and a passenger in the pick-up were uninjured.

Troopers from the Maryland State Police CRASH Team responded to the scene to reconstruct the accident.

This is the second fatal accident in Calvert within a one week period where a female driver died at the scene of the crash. Leah Marie Bucia, a 47 year-old female, from Huntingtown, was killed last Friday after her vehicle traveled into the oncoming lane and struck another truck head-on.
