The African American Heritage Society of Charles County, Inc. is a non-profit organization with a dedicated mission to foster public awareness and understanding of the African American way of life; the culture and historical contributions of African Americans to the growth and development of Southern Maryland and the nation.
The society has served Charles County's schools, libraries, senior citizen facilities and sponsored historical exhibitions throughout the state, the Smithsonian museum and many educational centers for well over thirty years.

The Barony of Dun Carraig is the Southern Maryland chapter of the SCA, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the study and re-enactment of life in the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. The SCA's members practice all the Arts & Sciences of medieval life from the daily living of making and wearing of garb and preparing feasts to the war time interests of making armor for rapier combat to fully armored combat fielding armies numbering in the thousands of soldiers.

The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century was formed in 1915 and has 13,000 members in 45 state societies. We are descendants of those brave people who came to America during the 17th Century. Some were the founders of Jamestown, others signed the Mayflower Compact, some were ministers of the Gospel, or landowners and freemen.
