The St. Mary's Women's Center is a
not-for-Profit community organization that provides free
or low cost assistance to women in St. Mary's County.
What We Do:
The Center receives approximately 1,000
client contacts in a year. Services provided by the
Center include:
Domestic Violence Protection through the courts.
Legal referral pro bone, reduced fee, and pro se
services to income eligible clients.
Extensive information and referral services to
the appropriate agencies that can meet client
needs.
Personal growth workshops.
Financial aid and educational counseling.
Support groups.
Follow-up contacts with clients to ensure
delivery of services and that client needs are
met.
Aptitude/interest/values testing.
Cooperates with other County human services
agencies to meet the needs of all people of St.
Mary's County.
Staff:
The Center is staffed by four paid full
and part-time people. In additional, there are 15
volunteer professionals who advise and assist the Center
staff in all areas of services. Moreover, 10 volunteer
professionals provide in-kind services at the Center to
insure outstanding quality of program delivery.
