The Southern Maryland Youth Association (SMYA) Hawks is for the benefit of the youth in the Charles County community and operates as a non-profit 501(c)3 entity within the Charles County Youth Football League (CCYFL). Our objectives as coaches, administrators, and volunteers are to teach children the fundamentals of football and the art of cheerleading while promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, self-discipline, physical fitness, and character for use on & off the field in a fun and safe environment. Aside from teaching and promoting athleticism and good sportsmanship, the SMYA program strongly emphasizes education and preparing each participant for the next level of competition and lifes challenges.

Our football coaches are experienced, knowledgeable and proven, as well as certified through USA Football, and our cheerleading coaches come from all-star competitive cheer programs and are safety certified through the American Association of Cheer Coaches and Administrators (AACCA). The Southern Maryland Youth Flag Football League (SMYFFL) is southern Maryland's premier Youth Flag Football League. We are based out of White Plains Maryland located in Charles County, and sponsored by the NFL (National Football League) and affiliated with the AAU (Amateur Athletic Union). We run both a Spring and Fall season with the opportunity in the Fall to play for a National Championship in Orlando Florida which is televised on ESPN. It is designed to educate young people about football while emphasizing participation and sportsmanship. Players will learn skills and lessons that help them succeed both on and off the field. It is open to All Boys and Girls ages 5-17. This five-on-five game is recognizable to football fans everywhere. Participants will learn about formations, pass patterns and different types of defense all in a non-contact environment.

At this site, you will find information on our local Pop Warner program of competitive cheerleading and little league football for youth, ages 5-15. We offer both a flag, tackle and cheer program. We regard the academic development of each participant as significant as we view their athletic development.
