For ages 7-13 - Our camp emphasizes having fun while learning about the martial arts. Stranger Danger, Bully Prevention, ancient martial art weapons as well as the Korean Art of TaeKwonDo will be taught. Overall fitness & health issues will be addressed. Each day is packed full with different activities and each week has a focus - Team Work, Focus, Self Control, Balance, Discipline, Courtesy, Perseverance. Campers will receive training in Martial Arts through fun & games. They will be exposed to games and drills that work on speed, timing, reactions, endurance and technique. They will be taught basics in the Long Staff weapon, learn about healthy eating and keeping fit.

Lions Camp Merrick is located on 320 acres in southern Maryland, on the shores of the Potomac River, about 40 miles south of our nations capital, Washington DC.

Lions Camp Merrick provides week-long residential camping experiences for deaf, blind, and children with diabetes, ages 6 –16. Additionally the camp provides many shorter weekend retreats and day long sessions for related activities, including Scouting and 4-H.

The camp is owned and operated by the Lions Clubs of District 22-C (Washington D. C. and Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George and St. Mary counties in Maryland). Monetary support is provided by local Lions Clubs throughout Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware and Northern Virginia, area businesses and your generous contributions.

Camp Phoenix, a summer day-camp for children and teens, ages 7 to 15, who are grieving the death of someone close, will be held at two locations this year to accommodate youngsters residing throughout the County. The first session will be held July 11, 12, and 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at King’s Landing Park in Huntingtown. Another session will be held August 6, 7, and 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at St. Johns Youth Center in Lusby.
