St. Mary's County Police Report for Sept 13, 2004


Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael R. Worrey responded to a call for a domestic dispute in the Ridge area with the Complainant being Stephanie Ann Schoonover. A wanted check revealed that the Complainant Schoonover was in fact wanted through the District Court for Failure to Appear. The original charge was False Report of a Crime. She is being held on $3,500.00 preset cash bond.

Deputy Sheriff Robert Steward and Dfc. Richard W. Russell located and arrested a 14 year old juvenile on a Juvenile Court Order for a Probation Violation. He was transported to Cheltenham Youth Detention Center to be held until a hearing can be determined.

Deputy Michael W. Worrey located and arrested Suspect Clark Marcell Riche for an outstanding warrant through the District Court. The warrant was for Failure to Appear on the original charge of possession of cocaine. The Suspect is being held on $3,500.00 preset bond.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Michael R. Worrey was patrolling the area of Missouri Ave with other members of his Agency by foot when he observed Suspect Edward Glenn Height sitting in an office chair in the front of a residence. Persons approached the Suspect and a transaction was made. Deputy Worrey contacted Suspect Height immediately following possible transactions and observed a baggie of crack cocaine next to him. The Suspect was advised he was under arrest and attempted to flee. Deputy Worrey and Deputy Maletto attempted to place the Suspect in custody and he resisted. The struggle ensued into the street and Suspect Height damaged a vehicle as he attempted to fight Officers off. He was placed into custody with the aid of other responding units. No one was injured. The Suspect was charged with distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, property destruction, possession of cocaine and resisting arrest. He is currently being held on $100,000.00 bond.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Corporal John R. Shoemaker served John Francis Flatley with a criminal summons for second degree assault. Suspect Flatley is charged with assaulting his estranged wife, Cynthia Flatley by striking her in both arms. He was released pending a Preliminary Hearing in the District Court.

Dfc. Douglas Mills located and served Suspect Maurice Delante Stoney with a criminal summons for theft. Suspect Stoney did steal the undisclosed victim's ATM card and made several unauthorized withdrawals totaling more than $150.00. The Suspect was located with the stolen ATM card in his possession. He was released pending a Preliminary Hearing in the District Court.

Deputy Ronald G. Maloy located and arrested Ronald Leray Baldwin for an outstanding warrant for theft under $500.00 and Burglary second degree. He was arrested and a search incident to the arrest revealed a quantity of marijuana on his person. He was charged with the additional offenses and is currently incarcerated.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Daniel Synder located and arrested Theresa Jean Taylor for an open warrant for passing a bad check. She is being held on $3,500.00 bond. Shortly thereafter Dfc. Synder located and arrested Steven Blair Wright for an open warrant through Charles County Sheriff's Office. There was no preset bond.

Deputy Robert C. Merritt located and arrested a 17 year old juvenile female for a probation violation and she was transported the Waxter's Detention Center for juvenile female until a Court date can be determined.

Dfc. Douglas Mills located a juvenile suspect in the Leonardtown area and confirmed that the Suspect was wanted for a Juvenile Court Retake for violation of probation. The 13 year old Suspect was transported to Cheltenham Youth Detention Center to be held until a court date could be determined.

Sheriff's Office Deputy David L. Corcoran arrested John O. Dickens for violation of a Protective Order. The offense took place at the Happyland Club in Valley Lee. The Suspect made contact with Darlene Dowsey in violation of a Court Order. He was arrested and is currently incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

Fugitive From Florida: On 9/11/04 Dfc. Charles F. Earle #140 located Rhonda Lee LaFleur, age 31, Lexington Park, Maryland and arrested her for being a Fugitive from Florida. Ms. LaFleur was wanted by authorities in Volusia County, Florida for Theft over $10,000. Ms. LaFleur was charged as a Fugitive from Florida and incarcerated in the Detention Center under "No Bond" pending an Extradition Hearing in District Court.

Destruction of Property: On 9/10/04 Dfc. Charles F. Earle #140 responded to a private residence in Hollywood, Maryland for the report of a Property Destruction. Investigation revealed unknown Culprit(s) caused damage to the victim’s mailbox. Loss is valued at $75.00.

On 09/10/04 at Route 4 Sobriety Check Point DFC Todd Fleenor stopped a 2002 Dodge Truck being driven by Marvin Duval Stewart of Lusby. DFC Fleenor smelled the odor of alcoholic beverages and conducted standardized field sobriety tests. Mr. Stewart submitted to a Breathalyzer tests the results were.08.

On 09/10/04 DFC Stephen Myers served a criminal summons on Dennis Edward Moore of Great Mills. The criminal summons charges that on or about 07/31/04 Dennis Moore violated the terms of an active Ex-parte Order.

On 09/10/04 DFC Stephen Myers and Deputy Eva Snyder responded to the area of Ronald Drive for a reported assault at a bus stop. Their investigation revealed that a 10 yea old male assaulted an 11 year old female. The male was subsequently charged with assault second degree.

On 09/10/04 DFC Joseph L. Somerville and DFC Earl Young responded to the area of Hyper Space for a reported disturbance. Their investigation revealed that a group of people were being disruptive and trying to provoke a fight. They were told to leave. A female age 15 from Lexington Park continued to yell scream profanities and refused to quit she was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. She was released to her grandmother.

On 09/10/04 Deputy Snyder responded to Lexington Manor for a reported trespassing. Deputy Snyder's investigation revealed Christine Fetty was trespassing on property after being given written notice not to do so. She was arrested and charged with Trespassing.

On 09/10/04 Deputy Eva Snyder responded to the Brass Rail for reported disturbance. Deputy Snyder was contacted by the owner, Dickie Gatton who advised that Jason Anthony Bailey was asked to leave the property. Bailey refused to do so. He was asked several more times to leave but refused and began yelling and screaming profanities. Jason Bailey of Leonardtown was placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Trespassing.

On 09/08/04 SDFC Diane Thompson served an arrest warrant on Vivian Ann Thompson. The warrant was for Escape 2nd degree from the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

On 09/08/04 Deputy Harold Young arrested Latavis Maddox of Lexington Park on an outstanding warrant. The warrant charges that on or about 08/22/04 Latavis Maddox broke into the apartment of a Lexington Park resident and destroyed property belonging to the owner. He was charged with Burglary and Property Destruction.

On 09/08/04 DFC Patrick Handy arrested Michael W. Swisher of Piney Point for Driving under the influence of alcohol. DFC Handy stopped the vehicle for exceeding the posted speed limit by 30 mph. The vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as Michael W. Swisher. A strong odor of alcoholic beverage was detected and standardized field sobriety tests were completed. The driver refused to take a breath test and was incarcerated.

On 09/08/04 DFC Patrick Handy served Miriam A. Duval of Leonardtown with a criminal summons. The criminal summons charges Miriam Duval with uttering a bad check on or about 01/31/04.

On 09/08/04 DFC Robert Russell investigated a report of a malicious burning. The victim Vickie Cahoon advised her personal belongings were set on fire by suspect Johnnie Eugene Archer. DFC Russell charged Johnnie Archer with Malicious Burning over $500.00.

On 09/08/04 Deputy Jay Kirkner while conducting premise checks in the Laurel Grove area observed a vehicle parked in the Laurel Grove Park. A records check revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Calvert County. The vehicle was stored and the owner notified. Calvert County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation.
