Alcohol Workshop for Police Recruits

The Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy recently conducted an alcohol workshop for the Police Recruit class now in secission. The objective of the workshop is to give students the opportunity to use newly learned skills in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and to apply the results of these test to determine if an arrest for an alcohol related offence would be appropriate.

Several volunteers were asked to consume alcohol and then be subjected to the standardized tests. Upon completion of the workshop, an SFST workshop instructor drove all volunteers home.

Local merchants donated the alcohol used in the workshop. Sheriff Mike Evans, Sgt Brian McCourt and Cpl. Tony Mochetto would like to thank the following businesses for their help in making the workshop a success.

Surry Inn
Game Time Wine and Spirits
Ken-Mar Liquor
ABD Liquor
Russell Sapp of Sapp & SMS Painting
Lusby Liquor
Town and County Liquor
Weems Liquors
