Unattended Child Results in Drug Bust

On December 22, 2004, Trooper Davis of the Leonardtown Barrack was investigating an unattended child complaint on Buckshot Way in Great Mills. During the course of the investigation, Davis approached a residence and detected an odor of burning Marijuana. He made contact with the sole occupant, Dwayne Travers who was arrested for possession of Marijuana. During the arrest, Trooper Davis observed a quantity of Marijuana in plain view within a common area of the home. Trooper Davis with assistance from Deputy Worrey of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office secured the residence and contacted the Bureau of Criminal Investigations. Members from the Bureau responded to the scene and after interviewing Trooper Davis, obtained a search warrant. A search of the residence resulted in the recovery of over 120 prepackaged baggies of Marijuana with an estimated street value in excess of $1200. The investigation is on going and additional arrests are anticipated.
