Two Local Men Nabbed for Hunting Deer at Night


CHARLES COUNTY, Md. - On Saturday, October 14, at 10 p.m., Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) charged Jeffery Lynn Oliver, 20, of Mechanicsville and Matthew John Alvey, 18, of Indian Head, with hunting deer at night and possession of a loaded weapon in a vehicle near Welcome.

NRP observed a spotlight being shined into the woods and fields from a GMC pickup truck. The officer stopped the truck and found it to be operated by Oliver. NRP seized as evidence, six firearms, three shotguns and three rifles, assorted ammunition, a hand-held spotlight and a bone saw. One rifle and one shotgun were loaded.
