Charles County Seeks New County Administrator

LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County Commissioners today announced that recruitment will begin immediately for a new County Administrator.

Roy E. Hancock, Director of the Charles County Department of Planning and Growth Management (PGM) has been the Interim County Administrator (ICA) since October 1, 2005. He recently advised the County Commissioners that he was not interested in pursuing the position of County Administrator.

“I would like to express my sincerest appreciation to the Board of County Commissioners for the opportunity to serve as ICA since October 2005,” Hancock said. “It has been a challenging but rewarding experience to work at the highest level of County Government with the various County departments, State and Federal agencies, our elected officials, and the great citizenry of Charles County.”

“We are appreciative of the tremendous job Mr. Hancock has done during the last year and the accomplishments that have been achieved,” the County Commissioners wrote in a statement released today.

After a new County Administrator is hired, Mr. Hancock will resume his duties as Director of PGM, and current Acting PGM Director Melvin C. Beall, Jr., P.E., will resume his position as Chief of Capital Services in the Department of Planning and Growth Management.
