MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


POT HEAD 101: Wear your seatbelt if you plan to drive around with illegal drugs in the car.

LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 8:16 am, TFC Linger and Tpr. Evans observed a tan Saturn with the driver not restrained by the seat belt. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Dana Leigh Jameson, 22, of Mechanicsville and the passenger, Kimberly Ann Gordon, 22, of Mechanicsville. During the course of the traffic stop, CDS paraphernalia with cocaine residue was seen on the rear passenger floorboard. Both Ms. Jameson and Ms. Gordon were arrested for possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Once at the Detention Center, a CDS smoking device was found on Ms. Jameson's person. Both subjects were detained at the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 1:23 pm, TFC Linger and Tpr. Evans observed tan Acura Legend south bound Rt. 5 at Rt. 243. The driver and passenger were not restrained with their seat belts and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon contact with the driver, Charles Walter Wyman, 22, of Colonial Beach, VA, and a female passenger, 17, of Leonardtown, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, loose marijuana was observed in plain view throughout the vehicle. Mr. Wyman was arrested for possession of marijuana and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

On Monday, February 12, 2007 at 5:27 pm, TFC Rezza and Tpr. Pilkerton observed a blue Toyota Scion exceeding the posted speed limit on Rt. 235 in the area of Exploration Drive in Lexington Park. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Dante Dean Thomas, 21 of Lexington Park. A check of MVA revealed Mr. Thomas was driving without a license and he was arrested for driving without a license. A strong odor of marijuana was emitting from Mr. Thomas. Mr. Thomas was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where a small baggie of marijuana was found on his person. Mr. Thomas was charged with possession of marijuana and driving without a license. He was held pending a bond review.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 12:06 am, TFC Koch observed a white Toyota Solero with only one headlight illuminated. A traffic stop was initiated. Contact was made with the driver, Anna Drue Mizak, 18, of Great Mills. TFC Koch observed in plain view two partially burnt marijuana cigarettes in the vehicle. Ms. Mizak was arrested and a search incident to the arrest revealed seven other partially burnt marijuana cigarettes were found in the vehicle. Ms. Mizak was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and charged with possession of marijuana and detained pending a bond review.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 1:12 am, TFC Evans observed a gold Ford Explorer failing to drive right of the solid yellow line on Rt. 5 in Great Mills. While the vehicle was moving, the driver, Robert Samuel Barnes, 48, of Piney Point, exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Mr. Barnes was apprehended after a brief foot chase. A check of MVA revealed Mr. Barnes' license was suspended and revoked in Maryland. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Barnes was in possession of a CDS smoking device with cocaine residue. Mr. Barnes was charged with possession of cocaine and CDS paraphernalia and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
