Calvert County Sheriff's Reports


PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. - The Calvert County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

CDS VIOLATION: DFC Richard Wilson was on routine patrol in the area of Md. Rt. 231 at the Calvert County Fairgrounds on April 25 at 11:36 p.m. He noticed a vehicle exceeding the posted 50 MPH speed limit and conducted a traffic stop. After citing the driver for speeding, he obtained consent to search and located suspected marijuana and oxycontin, a schedule II drug, inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as Scott R. Grimes, 20, of Owings, was charged with possession of marijuana and oxycontin.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE: A victim on Durango Drive in Lusby reported to Dep. John Harms that unknown suspect(s) had stolen her purse out of her unlocked vehicle on April 26 between 12:00 a.m. and 7:40 p.m. Valuables inside the purse totaled $250, including a Kodak camera. Dep. Harms will continue the investigation.

THEFT: A victim on 2nd Street in North Beach advised DFC Shawn Morder that unknown suspects had stolen one rear tire from his vehicle. The vehicle had been parked in front of the victim's house when the theft occurred sometime between April 27 at 9:00 p.m. and the following day at 7:00 a.m. The Mastercraft tire value is $60.00. Morder is continuing the investigation.

THEFT FROM AUTO: Unknown suspects stole a wallet from a vehicle parked at the St. Leonard Fastop on April 28 at 6:30 p.m. The wallet and contents are valued at $27. Dep. Carl Fischer is investigating.

DOP: Two victims on Knight Ave in Dunkirk reported to Dep. Elvis Carter that a total of $100 in damage had been done to both their mailboxes at approximately 4:20 a.m. on April 29. One of the victims obtained a description of a vehicle he saw leaving the street immediately after he heard the noise and observed his damaged mailbox. Dep. Carter will continue the investigation.

BURGLARY: A home on Harvard Street in St. Leonard was burglarized sometime in the month of April and $500 worth of items, a lawn mower, red mower cart, leaf blower and weed whacker, were taken. Dep. John Harms will investigate.

CDS VIOLATION: Dep. Johnny Coates conducted a traffic stop on April 30 at 6:57 p.m. on Md. Rt. 2 and Mt. Harmony Road in Owings. After contacting the driver, later identified as William A. Jones, 30, of Huntingtown, he detected the odor of burnt marijuana. After obtaining consent, a search revealed suspected marijuana. Jones was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.

CDS VIOLATION: On April 30 at 11:05 p.m., Dep. Johnny Coates conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Md. Rt. 4 and Brickhouse Road in Dunkirk. After the driver was cited for a traffic violation, a consent to search was obtained. A bag containing suspected cocaine, oxycodone and drug paraphernalia was discovered. A passenger of the vehicle, identified as Wanda C. Holmes, 41, of Oxon Hill, indicated the bag was hers. She was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and dispensing oxycodone without a valid prescription from an authorized prescriber.
