MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (November 13, 2007) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

DWI, ILLEGAL DRUGS, SUSPENDED LICENSE: On Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 10:36 pm, Barrett Allen West, 20, of Mechanicsville was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams for possession of Cocaine and CDS paraphernalia. Tpr. Adams was on Route 5 in Leonardtown when he initiated a traffic stop on a black Chrysler 300 for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Mr. West and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath. Mr. West was arrested for DWI. A MVA check revealed his driving privileges are suspended in Maryland. A search incident to arrest found that Mr. West was in possession of a CDS smoking device containing Cocaine and charged accordingly. Mr. West was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Friday, November 9, 2007 at 2:07 am, Tpr. Pilkerton initiated a traffic stop on a blue Lexus for an equipment violation on Norris Road at Clipper Drive in California. Contact was made with the driver, Andre Devon Dickens, 23, of Lusby and an odor of burnt marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. During the course of the traffic stop, Mr. Dickens was arrested for possession of Marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

THEFT OF VEHICLE TAG: On Friday, November 9, at 8:22 pm, TFC M. Moore responded to the 21000 block of Rickys Lane in Lexington Park for a reported Theft of Tags. Contact was made with the female complainant who advised after driving from the carpool lot at St. Mary's Airport in Hollywood she discovered unknown suspect(s) removed both her registration plates from the vehicle. Investigation continues.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 12:36 am, TFC J. Fleetwood initiated a traffic stop on Route 245 at Morgan Road in Hollywood on a blue Ford Explorer for exceeding the posted speed limit. Contact was made with the driver, Timothy Shawn Mattingly, 44, of Leonardtown. During the course of the traffic stop, and odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from Mr. Mattingly's breath. Mr. Mattingly was arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Mattingly was in possession of Cocaine for which he was also charged. Mr. Mattingly was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.

DUI, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 2:28 am, Tpr. J. Pilkerton initiated a traffic stop on Buck Hewitt Road at Old Hewitt Road in Lexington Park on a red Chevrolet Camaro for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver, Brian Everett Bailey, 23, of California. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was emitting from his breath for which he was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed Mr. Bailey was in possession of a bag of Marijuana. He was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

HANDGUN THEFT: On Monday, November 12, 2007 at 4:35 pm, TFC K. Lashley responded to a reported Burglary in the 40000 block of Wathen Road in Leonardtown. Contact was made with the male complainant who advised unknown suspect(s) entered his residence and stole a nickel finish 25 caliber handgun valued at $100.00. The investigation continues.

THEFT: On Monday, November 12, 2007 at 7:46 pm, TFC J. Linger responded to the 29000 block of Jennifer Drive in Mechanicsville for a reported Burglary and Theft Over $500. Contact was made with the male complainant who advised unknown suspect(s) stole a 2002 Honda XR-50 dirt bike valued at $600.00; Husqavarna Leafblower valued at $399.00; Stihl chainsaw valued at $325.00 and Echo Weedeater valued at $282.00. The items were taken from a shed between Sunday, November 11, 2007 and Monday, November 12, 2007. The investigation continues.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 6:22 pm, Joseph Louis Taylor, 60, of Lexington Park was arrested by Tpr. M. Adams on a Circuit Court Warrant (T3-12822) issued on May 1, 2007. The original charge was Violation of Probation / Assault 2nd Degree. Mr. Taylor was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 8:03 pm, Kevin Eugene Watts, 43, of Lexington Park was arrested by TFC K. Shughart on an Arrest Warrant (T3-13135) issued by the District Court in Leonardtown on November 1, 2007. The original charge was Assault 2nd Degree and Disorderly Conduct. Mr. Watts was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was held pending a bond review.
