St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Dec. 11, 2007) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department released the following incident and arrest reports.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Detectives from the St. Mary's County BCI Vice Narcotics Division indicted Anita Plater, 24, of Lexington Park, after she was found to be in possession of more than 130 grams (4.59 ounces) of cocaine. She is currently awaiting a hearing before the Circuit Court and will be held in the St. Mary's County Detention Center without bond.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Detectives from the St. Mary's County BCI Vice Narcotics Division indicted and charged Wesley Leonard Morris, 28 of Avenue, Maryland. Morris was charged with distribution of a controlled prescription medication (Hydrocodone). He is currently awaiting a hearing in the Circuit Court.

BURGLARY, THEFT: On December 9 at approximately 8 p.m., St. Mary's County BCI detectives located and arrested Johnnie William Raines, 30, with no fixed address, when he was seen walking on Route 246 in Lexington Park. Detectives wanted him in connection with several burglaries and thefts. He was charged with a November 25 burglary and theft at a Lexington Park residence; a November 28 burglary, property destruction, and theft at Russell's Store in Valley Lee; a November 28th burglary, property destruction and theft at Charlie's Deli in Lexington Park; a November 28th attempted burglary at St. James Store and Pub; a December 4th burglary and theft at the First Pentecostal Church in Lexington Park; a December 5th burglary and theft from a Lexington Park residence; and a December 9th theft from a motor vehicle in Lexington Park. He was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.

SETTING CLASSMATES HAIR ON FIRE: On Dec. 6, School Resource Officer Deputy First Class Eva Jones was notified of an assault at Spring Ridge Middle School. Her investigation revealed the thirteen year old (13) victim was in the hallway of the school when the suspect, also thirteen (13), pulled out a lighter, and set the victim's hair on fire. The suspect was identified and placed under arrest by DFC Jones and charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Disruption of School Activities. The juvenile was processed and released to the custody of a parent pending action by the Department of Juvenile Justice.

BURGLARY, ASSAULT: On Dec. 7, SDFC Pat Handy responded to 43000 Megan Lane, Leonardtown, Maryland for the reported burglary. His investigation revealed the suspect, Joseph Wayne Bosse, 25, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, knocked on the victim's front door and yelled that people were going to kill him. When the victim came to the door, the suspect barged in and grabbed the victim by the arm and attempted to pull her across the room. The victim was able to break away from the suspect and lock herself in a bathroom where she dialed 911. SDFC Handy arrived and located the suspect hiding in another bathroom. He was placed under arrest. A search revealed Bosse was in possession of cocaine. He was charged with Burglary 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree and Possession of Cocaine and transported to the Detention Center pending a bond hearing before the District Court Commissioner.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: Detectives from the St. Mary's County BCI Vice Narcotics Division were assisted by the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office Emergency Services Team and K-9 Division during the execution of a Search and Seizure warrant on a Great Mills home. As the team made entry into the home one of the Targets of the Search Warrant, Jack Franklin Webb, 20, of no fixed address, jumped from a second story window. As soon as he made it to the ground and attempted to run, he encountered the K-9 Deputy David Gerhardt and his dog Frigo. Webb surrendered and was found to be in possession of marijuana. Webb has been wanted for more than six months for three open warrants. He was also charged with the additional offense of possession of marijuana. Also arrested was Brian Keith Stapleton, 20, of Great Mills. He was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana and Ecstasy. Also arrested was Michael Antonio Barnes, 22, of Great Mills. He was charged with possession of marijuana. Additional charges are pending a State's Attorney's Office review.

James Mark Kimble 45, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, arrested 12/08/07 by DFC Cathcart.

Jollen M. Dubry 43, of Charlotte Hall, Maryland, arrested 12/08/07 by SDFC J. Molitor.

John Robert Garner 26, of Leonardtown, Maryland arrested 12/06/07 by Deputy Harrison

Jeremy Wayne Wigglesworth, 19, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, arrested 12/08/07 by SDFC S. Clark. Wigglesworth's arrest was the result of a single vehicle accident investigation at Mechanicsville Road and Cox Drive, Mechanicsville, Maryland. Search incident to arrest, Wigglesworth was found to be in possession of Marijuana. He was charged with Driving under the Influence and Possession of CDS.
