MSP Reports for St. Mary's County


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Jan. 17, 2008) - The Leonardtown Barrack of the Maryland State Police (MSP) today released the following incident and arrest reports.

SUSPENDED LICENSE, ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Monday, January 14 at 9:46 am, Andrew Alexander Burroughs, 27, of Charlotte Hall was arrested by Tpr. J. Pilkerton for possession of CDS not Marijuana. Mr. Burroughs was operating a gray Toyota truck when he was stopped on Route 5 at Old Great Mills Road in Great Mills for failing to stop at a stop sign. A routine MVA check revealed Mr. Burroughs was driving on a suspended license. Mr. Burroughs was arrested for driving while his driving privileges are suspended. During the course of the traffic stop Mr. Burroughs was found to be in possession of a prescription medication not prescribed to him. Mr. Burroughs was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

ILLEGAL DRUGS: On Monday, January 14 at 11:07 am, David Christopher Norris, Jr., 22, of Leonardtown was arrested by TFC T. Quade for possession of a plastic baggie of Marijuana. Mr. Norris was operating a white Buick Park Avenue on Pegg Road in Lexington Park was he was stopped for an equipment violation. During the course of the traffic stop Mr. Norris was found to be in possession of a plastic baggie of Marijuana. He was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.

BURGLARIES: On Tuesday, January 15 at 2:50 pm, TFC K. Shughart responded to a reported Burglary in the 39000 block of Potomac Avenue in Compton. Upon arrival contact was made with the male complainant who advised unknown suspect(s) burglarized his residence between December 6, 2007 to January 15, 2008. The rear doors to the residence were damaged where entry was made. Two unknown make DVD players valued at $50.00 each, an amplifer unknown make valued at $50.00, 2 large floor type speakers, valued at $200.00 and a compact disc stereo valued at $200.00 were stolen from the residence. Total loss was $550.00. As neighborhood checks were conducted it was discovered another residence on Potomac Avenue was also burglarized. There was no reported property stolen from the residence and the investigation continues.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, January 16 at 11:57 pm, Mandy Brooke Lane, 20, of Lusby was arrested by TFC T. Quade for possession of Marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Ms. Lane was operating an orange Dodge HHR when she was stopped for exceeding the posted speed limit on Route 235 north of Exploration Park Drive in Lexington Park. During the course of the traffic stop, a glass CDS smoking device was found in the vehicle and Ms. Lane was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where she was detained pending a bond review.

WARRANT ARREST: On Tuesday, January 15 at 9:15 am, Jerry Aloysius Plater, 45, of Mechanicsville was arrested by TFC J. Fleetwood on an outstanding Circuit Court Warrant (T3-12918) for Failing to Appear in Circuit Court in Leonardtown on June 18, 2007. The original charge on the warrant was Burglary 4th degree. Mr. Plater was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond hearing.

WARRANT ARREST: On Wednesday, January 16 at 3:20 am, Shane Samuel Robert Simon, 21, of Lusby was arrested by TFC M. Grimes on an outstanding Bench Warrant (T3-13246) for Failing to Appear in District Court in Calvert County on January 8, 2008. The original charge was underage alcohol consumption. Mr. Simon was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center where he was detained pending a bond review.
