St. Mary's County Sheriff's Reports


LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Sept. 19, 2008) - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

ARMED ASSAULT: On Sept. 18 at approximately 9:15 p.m., a 26 year-old male victim parked his car at Hunting Meadows Court in Callaway and got out. Two black males wearing ski style masks ran up behind him and one suspect placed a gun to his head. The suspects attempted to push the victim towards a playground area, but he was able to break free and run from the suspects. Both suspects then fled the area on foot. BCI detectives are asking anyone with information on this crime to call them at (301) 475-4200 ext. 9058 or Crime Solvers at (301) 475-3333.

ARREST FOR BURGLARY: On Sept. 18, BCI detectives arrested Christopher L. Goldsborough, 21, of Leonardtown, and charged him with burglary, theft over $500, and malicious destruction of property. The arrest was a result of an investigation into a Sept. 4 residential burglary on Downs circle in Leonardtown.

ASSAULT 2ND DEGREE, HINDERING: On Sept. 18 at 1:15 p.m., patrol units responded to a residence on Port Court in Lexington Park to arrest a juvenile for an earlier assault. While officers were attempting to arrest the juvenile, LaShawnda Holland, 22, of Lexington Park, assaulted Deputy Vezzosi in an attempt to prevent the arrest of the juvenile. Holland was advised she was under arrest and a struggle ensued. Holland was subsequently subdued and placed in handcuffs. Holland was transported to the Detention Center where she was charged with assault 2nd degree and resisting arrest. The juvenile was arrested and charged with assault 2nd degree and released to a guardian pending further action by juvenile authorities.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT: On Sept. 18 at 6:19 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence on Point Lookout Rd. in Leonardtown. Investigation by Dep. Rogers revealed the victim and suspect, Dean E. Chance, 35, of Leonardtown, were involved in a verbal dispute. During the dispute suspect Chance obtained a knife and cut the victim on her stomach causing a small laceration. The victim did not require medical treatment for her injuries. Chance was arrested, charged with assault first degree and incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
