LEONARDTOWN, Md. (Nov. 11, 2008)—One man is in jail and another in the hospital after a bar fight led to a shooting in California Monday night. Jason T. Mcgrath, 27, of California, was shot in the chest at close range by Scott A. Davis, 28, of Lexington Park, say police.

Police say the incident started with a fight between Mcgrath and Davis at Donovan's Pub in California just before 10 p.m. By the time police arrived, both men and their associates had left.

Police say Mcgrath was walking in the rear of the Hickory Hills Shopping Center when Davis exited a vehicle and shot him in the chest with a handgun, from close range, and fled.

Mcgrath was flown to P.G. Shock Trauma by Trooper 7 where he was in stable condition.

Davis turned himself in to St. Mary's County BCI detectives at approximately midnight and was charged with attempted murder, first degree assault, and the use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.

He was incarcerated at the St. Mary's County Detention Center.
