CCSO Detectives Charge 3 Suspects with Attempted Murder

LA PLATA, Md. (March 22, 2013)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following report regarding an attempted murder in Waldorf on Thursday.

On March 21 at 3 p.m., officers responded to the 2800 block of Lyon Court in Waldorf for the report of a shooting that occurred nearby. Upon arrival, officers found a 23-year-old man inside a car suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim was transported to a hospital and admitted with serious injuries. An investigation revealed the victim and his friend, 21, were originally in the area of Wingate Court to make a drug transaction with three males who were known to them. During the transaction, which occurred inside the victim's car, one of the males pulled a gun and fired multiple shots, striking the victim; his friend was not injured. The victim was able to drive to Lyon Court where police and medical personnel responded.

Patrol officers obtained suspect information and established a perimeter. A police K-9 team responded and, during a track, recovered evidence which may be linked to the case. The suspects were quickly located inside a house on Wedgewood Place and arrested without incident. Anthony Deandre Dance, 18; Jermaine Marquette Hagen, Jr., 21; and Jalen Donte Kirk, 17 (charged as an adult), all of Waldorf, were charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, unlawful possession of a handgun, attempted robbery, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. All three suspects were remanded to the detention center.
