Charles Co. Sheriff's Reports


LA PLATA, Md. (Jan. 8, 2014)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office today released the following incident and arrest reports.

THEFT OF FUEL OIL: Sometime between Jan. 6 and Jan. 7, unknown suspect(s) siphoned between 5 to 10 gallons of fuel oil from a tank outside a business in the 100 block of Post Office Road in Waldorf. Officer S. Hooper is investigating.

OFFICERS ASSAULTED DURING ARREST: On Jan. 2 at 7 p.m., officers were called to a house in the area of Dashing Place in Welcome for the report of a 51-year-old man who had overdosed on drugs and was acting bizarre. Officers arrived and observed the man's hands were bloody and he was in an agitated state. The man refused officers orders and took up a fighting stance. Officers attempted to arrest the man but he resisted and fought the officers. After a struggle, the man was subdued and taken into custody. He was transported to a hospital for an evaluation.

DRUG ARREST: On Jan. 2 at 3:48 p.m., Officer J. Morales initiated traffic stop in the area of Hamilton Road and Acton Lane after observing a traffic violation. As Officer Morales approached the driver, he detected a strong odor of raw marijuana. Further investigation led to the discovery of nearly 30 grams of suspected marijuana and $3,300 in currency in the car. The driver, David Lee Harmon, 26, of Brandywine, was charged with possession of marijuana.
