NRP Investigates Death at Point Lookout State Park

(Jan. 13, 2014) The Maryland Natural Resources Police is investigating the death of a maintenance worker at Point Lookout State Park.

The body of Donald Lloyd Gothard, 56, of Lusby, was found at the base of a ladder in the wastewater treatment plant by a co-worker early Monday morning. Gothard was an employee of Maryland Environmental Services.

Gothard logged in at the plant on Sunday morning. When he didn’t return home after his shift, his wife called the police, who labeled him “critically missing” due to medical issues.

NRP investigators do not believe foul play was involved. A Maryland Occupational Safety and Health inspector was at the scene Monday morning. The Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy.
