LA PLATA, Md. (June 20, 2014)—The Charles County Sheriff's Office released the following incident and arrest reports.

CALL FROM CITIZEN LEADS TO ARREST OF THEFT SUSPECT: On June 18 at 5:52 a.m., a citizen called 911 to report a suspicious male looking in the windows of cars in the area of Marshall Road in Waldorf. Officers responded but did not locate the man. About an hour later, another resident called from Gerry Court and said a man was going through cars. Officers H. Burgess, P. Alvarez and B. Clark responded. Officer Alvarez found the man hiding in someone’s backyard and the man was taken into custody. Officers determined the suspect broke into at least 12 cars and stole cell phones, money, clothing, jewelry and other miscellaneous items. All of the stolen goods were located and recovered. Travis Demetrius Smoot, 29, of no fixed address, was charged with theft. Officer H. Burgess is investigating.

WOMAN APPREHENDED AND CHARGED IN FIRST-DEGREE ASSAULT: On June 17 at 1:39 p.m., officers responded to the Master Suites Motel at 2228 Old Washington Road in Waldorf for the report of a stabbing. Investigation showed the victim, age 19, was involved in an argument with an acquaintance, Anissa Latavia Henson, 21, of Fredericksburg, Va. During the altercation, Henson pulled out a pair of scissors, stabbed the victim multiple times and fled from the room. The victim was flown to a hospital where she was admitted with injuries that could be life threatening. Officers canvassed the area and quickly located Henson at a nearby fast food restaurant where she was trying to change her clothes. She was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault. Det. B. Buchanan is investigating.
