Kimberly Jo (Novak) Machesney, 66, Of Charlotte Hall Maryland died October 24, 2024 after a courageous 2-1/2 yr struggle with lung cancer.
Kim was born May 14, 1958 in Detroit Michigan, daughter of Joseph and Trilby Novak. She graduated from Suttons Bay High School, Suttons Bay Michigan class of 1976. Growing up on a cherry farm near Suttons Bay Michigan taught her self-motivation and an honest work ethic. She was a kind and gentle person with appreciation for others as expressed in her forgiveness, kindness, compassion and consideration towards others. She asked little of others not wanting to inconvenience them or trouble them. These characteristics formed the basis for a sound moral compass that guided her through life and her interaction with others. In 1987 Kim and her family relocated to southern Maryland where her and Mike raised their kids and later welcomed grandchildren into the world. She loved her kids and grandchildren and enjoyed being an active part of their lives. She enjoyed walking with the young grandkids through the yard showing them new and interesting things as they walked and talked about what they saw. Kim enjoyed yard landscape gardening, peonies were her favorite flower and used them as focal points to appeal to the eye and accent her hobby. She had a keen knack for tasteful repurposing of many things when it came to interior decorating blending bits of old with new for the inviting look and feel of home comfort. Kim worked in accounting for a number of years before furthering her education and switching careers to KCI Consulting Engineers as a consultant for 22 years to the State of Maryland for highway and bridge construction. After leaving KCI Consulting Engineers she went to work for Penn Ave a highway construction contractor as a project manager until her retirement in January of 2022. Kim will be missed and forever remembered in our hearts and minds as a kind and caring person. A special Thank you to Gretchen Machesney for her medical skills, training and knowledge guiding, aiding and assisting Kim through her treatment for cancer. Kim is survived by her parents Joseph Novak Jr. of Almont Michigan and Trilby Novak of Lake Ann Michigan, her son Michael (Gretchen) Machesney Jr. of Hollywood MD., her daughter Monica (Tim Hare) Machesney of Mechanicsville MD., her brother Joseph (Bobbi) Novak III of Welcome MD., her sister Karen Novak of Palm Desert CA., her sister Sandra Knobbe of Pinon Hills CA., her sister Lisa Novak of Lake Ann MI., former husband Michael (Stacie Sink) Machesney Sr. of Mechanicsville MD., granddaughter Kylie Mohundro, grandson Landen Machesney, granddaughter Aubree Hare, grandson Jacob Hare.
