SMECO “Adopts” Needy Families for Christmas

Employees at Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) “adopted” 11 needy families in the Cooperative’s service area for the Christmas season. Working with Christmas Connection in Charles County, Tree of Angels in Calvert County, and the Office of Community Services in St. Mary's County, SMECO employees bought gifts and food for the families. SMECO employees have participated in this program for 20 years. This annual holiday tradition is one of the many ways that Cooperative employees help others in their community. SMECO’s Employee Community Involvement Committee coordinated the Adopt-A-Family campaign, along with several other fundraisers throughout the year.
