Charles County Sheriff's Office Report for August 31, 2004


BURGLARY: Sometime between 2:50 a.m. and 7 a.m. on August 30, suspect(s) forced entry into Taco Bell in the 90 block of Smallwood Drive in Waldorf, stole money and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. Carlson is investigating.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE: On August 27 at 12:08 a.m., Officer E. Baker attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 1985 Nissan 300ZX on Bryantown Road in the area of Woodville Road in Waldorf for speeding. The driver fled to a residence in the 14600 block of Woodville Road in Waldorf where he was apprehended. Investigation revealed the driver, Keith Daniel Sams, 20, of Waldorf, was allegedly intoxicated. Sams was charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Driving While Impaired, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Reckless Driving and Speeding and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Sometime between 9:15 p.m. on August 22 and 6:30 a.m. on August 23, suspect(s) stole a flag pole and a "Welcome" flag from Southwinds Senior Living Community in the 4200 block of Southwinds Drive in White Plains. The suspect(s) then shattered a window of a vehicle in the parking lot with the flag pole. ATTEMPTED THEFT OF A MOTOR VEHICLE: Sometime between 9 p.m. on August 22 and 4:15 a.m. on August 23, suspect(s) entered a vehicle parked at a residence in the 5100 block of Cole Book Drive in La Plata, attempted unsuccessfully to steal the vehicle and its stereo and fled the scene. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. Officer R. Snyder is investigating.

THEFT FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE: Sometime between 12 p.m. on August 7 and 8 p.m. on August 22, suspect(s) entered a vehicle parked at a residence in the 10000 block of Willets Crossing Road in White Plains and stole a CD Changer. The suspect(s) also attempted unsuccessfully to steal the vehicle’s stereo. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. Officer R. Snyder is investigating.
