Bomb Threat at Great Mills High; Lexington Park Man Arrested for Sexual Abuse; More...


On 03/21/05 Deputies from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to Great Mills High School for a reported Bomb Threat. The school was evacuated and searched by K-9 Kyra. On 03/22/05 DFC Daniel Reppel received information on the bomb threat and continued the investigation. Based upon his investigation he identified and located the suspect. DFC Reppel preferred charges against an 18 year old student from Great Mills for the Bomb Threat.

On 03/21/05 Deputy Jay Kirkner responded to Great Mills High School for the Bomb Threat. While there he was contacted by a school official regarding a CDS complaint. The teacher advised that while evacuating the school a juvenile was observed dropping a baggie of marijuana from his pocket. It was recovered and the student detained. The student was charged with possession of CDS-Marijuana and released to the custody of his parent.

On 03/22/05 DFC Eric S. Walker responded to Birds Eye Court for a reported theft. It was reported by William Diffenbaugh of Richmond American Homes that between 03/10-14/05 unknown person(s) removed 65 sheets of Ven-Tex tongue and groove flooring. The flooring was valued at $1800.00.

On 03/22/05 Robert Lewis Jr. reported that his vehicle which had broken down on Rt. 6 near Whalen Road was stolen. Mr. Lewis advised the vehicle was parked on the shoulder of the roadway and that between 03/17-22/05 unknown person stole his gray 1995 Dodge Neon from the roadside.

On 03/22/05 DFC Eric S. Walker responded to the Target Store for a reported shoplifter in custody. Upon arrival DFC Walker made contact with the Loss Prevention Officer from Target, who advised that they had observed the suspect enter the store and remove items from the clothes rack and place them in a plastic bag. When the suspect tried to leave the store he was stopped and held. The suspect was identified as Kevin Jerome Chase 34, of Lexington Park. Chase had in his possession at the time of his arrest forty-one (41) items of childrens clothing having a value of $369.17. Chase was charged with theft under $500.00 and incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

On 03/21/05 DFC Stephen Simonds responded to Valley Court for a reported property destruction and theft. The complainant Latisha Leeann Lacey advised that her ex-boyfriend had damaged the American Flag that was given to her from her fathers military service and stole items belonging to her son. DFC Simonds has requested charges against the suspect, Derrick Justin Connoly, 19, of Lexington Park for Theft under $100.00 and Property Destruction.

On 03/21/05 DFC Scott Mclane and Deputy Terry Kile stopped a vehicle that a look out had been given for being involved in a hit and run in Charles County. The vehicle being driven by Dennis Anthony Gingles, 38 of Lexington Park. It was determined that Gingles driving status was suspended. Deputy Kile issued him a citation for Driving while Suspended. Gingles was then placed under arrest and held for the Maryland State Police Trooper that was investigating the Hit and Run. A search conducted by Deputy Kile revealed a crack cocaine smoking device. Deputy Kile has requested charges for Gingles for Possession of CDS and Possession of CDS paraphernalia.

On 03/21/05 SDFC Diane M. Thompson responded to Wentworths Nursery for a reported theft. It was reported by Howard Wentworth that between 03/19-21/05 unknown persons entered the fenced in compound and removed the following items five (5) Japanese Maple Trees 5'-6' tall valued at $1250.00, 1 Pinus Tanyosko Tree valued at $179.99 and four (4) Burning Bush plants valued at $139.96. the total loss was reported at $1569.95.

On 03/22/05 DFC Stephen Myers served a criminal summons on Gabriel Xavier Cassagnol, 45 of Great Mills. The Criminal summons charges Cassagnol with Assault second degree.

On 03/21/05 DFC Emory Johnson responded to Hearts Desire Lane for a reported theft. It was reported by Marshakia Harris that between 03/01-21/05 unknown persons stole the tags from her vehicle. The Maryland tags 1AFD32 and the sticker 8237400 were both entered into NCIC computer.

On 03/22/05 DFC Stephen Myers served an arrest warrant on Samuel Cimmaron Hutchinson, 66 of Lexington Park. The warrant obtained from a Grand Jury Indictment charges Huchinson with: four (4) separate counts of 4th degree sexual offense, 2 counts of sexual abuse by a relative, four (4) counts of abuse to a child under 18 by a relative. Hutchinson was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

On 03/23/05 DFC Stephen Myers served an arrest warrant on Steven Drew Taylor, 20 of Lusby. The warrant obtained from a Grand Jury Indictment charges Taylor with Possession of CDS Marijuana and Distribution of CDS-Marijuana. Taylor was incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
