Charles County Sheriff's Office Seeks Lead In 30 Year Old Unsolved Homicide

The Charles County Sheriff's Office and Charles County Crime Solvers are asking for the public's assistance in solving a homicide that occurred sometime around Halloween more than three decades ago.

George Allen MacDonald was a 26-year-old Riverdale, Md., resident and sometime around Halloween in 1973, he attended a party in Prince George's County. What happened at the party is unclear but in February 1974, someone found a body on the shore of Trinity Lake near Dubois Road in La Plata, which through a fingerprint analysis was found to be that of MacDonald.

Investigating officers determined MacDonald had attended the party and they believe he may have been involved in a fight at some point during the night. He was either killed at the party or sometime after it and he probably knew the person or people who killed him. No one investigators spoke with reported seeing MacDonald after the party. Detectives are continuing to investigate this murder.

The Sheriff's Office is releasing a photograph of MacDonald and some of the clothing he was wearing when his body was found and would like to speak with anyone who was at the party he attended or who has information about the case. The pictures may be viewed at the Sheriff's Office Web site, www.ccso.us.

Crime Solvers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information about an investigation that leads to an arrest or indictment. Anyone who has information about this murder may call Det. J. Elliott at 301-609-6515 or Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
