Safety Check Nets Drugs, Illegal Firearms


11/03/05 10:06 a.m. - While working a seat belt enforcement at the intersection of Post Office Road and MD Rt. 5, a vehicle was stopped for a repair order violation. Upon contact with the driver, Ricardo Geraldo Dixon, 22 years, of Temple Hills, an odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle.

A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed an AR-15 rifle with ammunition and a quantity of suspected marijuana. A computer check revealed the rifle was reported stolen through the Charles County Sheriff's Office and Mr. Dixon was driving on a suspended license.

Mr. Dixon was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, theft over $500, possession of a firearm in relation to drug trafficking crime and possession of a concealed deadly weapon. He was cited with a safety equipment repair order and a citation for driving on a suspended license. Mr. Dixon was incarcerated in the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review.
