Waldorf Man Injured After Vehicle Slid on Icy Road


On Dec. 20 at 6:55 a.m., a Mercury Tracer driven by Jeffrey Edward Francis, 33, of Waldorf was traveling north in the 2700 block of Middletown Road in Waldorf when the vehicle slid on a patch of ice, left the roadway and struck several trees. The driver was briefly trapped in the vehicle.

He sustained incapacitating injuries and was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince George's Hospital Center. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening and he was not wearing a seatbelt. Officers closed the road to allow a salt truck to treat the road.
