On 12/31/05 at approximately 0204 hours, Deputy First Class Milton Pesante initiated a traffic stop in Mechanicsville. DFC Pesante identified the driver as Paul Wilson Wert, Jr, age 30 of Mechanicsville. DFC Pesante detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of Mr. Wert. Mr. Wert failed to satisfactorily complete field sobriety tests and was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
