Montgomery County Executive Duncan Set to Announce Lawsuit Against Bush Administration


Montgomery County Executive Douglas M. Duncan will announce that Montgomery County is filing a lawsuit on Thursday in federal court seeking to overturn a Food and Drug Administration ruling denying Montgomery County residents the right to import Canadian drugs. In November of 2005, the FDA denied Duncan's request for a waiver under the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003, blocking seniors and others from getting access to cheaper Canadian drugs. Duncan will be joined at the press conference by Montgomery County Health Officer Dr. Ulder J. Tillman; County Attorney Charles W. Thompson; Bruce Dunton, President of the Alliance for Retired Americans for Montgomery County and the District of Columbia and a member of the Montgomery County Commission on Aging. Other members of the Commission on Aging will also be on hand for the event.
