Fast Driving Teen Runs One Car Off Road; Rolls His Car


Date and time occurred: 03/06/06 at 1223 hours

Location: Baptist Church Road four tenths of a mile North of Chaptico Road.

Jonathan Scott Stuart, 17 years of age, of Mechanicsville, was operating a 1996 Honda Civic at a high rate of speed traveling North on Baptist Church Road. Mr. Stuart attempted to pass another vehicle in a no passing zone denoted by a double yellow line at a curve in the road. Mr. Stuart's vehicle completed the pass running the other vehicle off of the road in the process. Mr. Stuart's vehicle then lost control and began skidding side ways across the South and North bound lanes of Baptist Church Road. It continued skidding side ways off road where it began rolling and overturned several times before coming to rest upright in a field.

Mr. Stuart was partially ejected from the vehicle and suffered life threatening injuries. Mr. Stuart was flown to Baltimore University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Initial Investigating Officers: St Mary's Sheriff's Deputies: SDFC Joseph Somerville, and Dep Shawn Carberry. In addition Cpl. Wayne Milam and SDFC Emory Johnson, of the Sheriff's Office Collision Reconstruction Investigative Team responded to conduct follow up investigation of the crash. Charges are pending results of the investigation.
